Polish Chess Federation
PZSzach - Poland
The Polski Zwiazek Szachowy (PZSzach) is Poland's national chess federation, originally founded on April 11, 1926 in Warsaw. After being disrupted by World War II, the federation was re-established on April 30, 1946, and has continued to serve as the governing body for chess in Poland ever since. PZSzach joined FIDE in 1927, making it one of the earlier European federations to affiliate with the world chess body.
Poland has one of the strongest chess traditions in Europe, producing top-level grandmasters including Jan-Krzysztof Duda, who has consistently ranked among the world's elite players. The federation organizes Poland's national championships, manages player ratings and development programs, and selects national teams for the Chess Olympiad and other international competitions. Based in Warsaw, PZSzach coordinates chess activity across the country's many clubs and regional associations.
From youth training programs to elite competition, PZSzach provides the infrastructure that sustains Poland's chess excellence. The federation's commitment to developing young talent ensures that Poland remains a formidable force in international chess for years to come.
