German Chess Federation

The Deutscher Schachbund e.V. (DSB) is the umbrella organization of chess players in Germany and a member of FIDE. Founded on July 18, 1877, it is one of the oldest and largest chess federations in the world, with approximately 92,000 members organized across roughly 2,400 clubs.

The DSB organizes Club Championships up to the 2nd Bundesliga level, German Individual Championships, and coordinates Germany's participation in international competitions including the Chess Olympiad. Germany has consistently been among the strongest chess nations in Europe.

The federation supports chess development at all levels, from grassroots club play to elite competition. Their website at schachbund.de serves as the central hub for German chess news, tournament information, and federation services.
