Gukesh Dommaraju is an Indian Grandmaster and the reigning World Chess Champion. In December 2024, at just 18 years old, he defeated Ding Liren to become the youngest undisputed World Chess Champion in history, surpassing Garry Kasparov's long-standing record.
Born in Chennai in 2006, Gukesh earned his GM title at 12 years old and quickly rose through the ranks of elite chess. He qualified for the 2024 Candidates Tournament and won it, earning the right to challenge Ding Liren.
