Daniel Naroditsky (1995-2025) was an American Grandmaster, chess educator, and one of the most influential content creators in the chess streaming era. Known universally as "Danya," he became the youngest published chess author at age 14 and earned his GM title at 17.
Naroditsky is best remembered for his "speedrun" series on YouTube and Twitch, where he climbed the rating ladder while explaining every move in extraordinary depth. His ability to break down complex positions into understandable concepts made him one of the most effective chess teachers of his generation. At his peak, he had over 340,000 Twitch followers and 482,000 YouTube subscribers.
He was consistently ranked among the top 25 blitz and rapid players in the world. Naroditsky passed away in October 2025 at age 29, leaving behind a legacy that transformed how chess is taught and consumed online.
