Anish Giri

Anish Giri is a chess Grandmaster ranked #1 in the Netherlands and consistently in the world top 10. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, he grew up in Japan before settling in the Netherlands, where he became the youngest grandmaster in Dutch chess history at age 14. He qualified for the 2026 Candidates Tournament by winning the 2025 FIDE Grand Swiss.

Beyond playing, Giri is the face behind ChessMonitor — a chess preparation and analytics platform that lets players connect their Chess.com and Lichess accounts to track progress, explore openings, and prepare for opponents using a database of 30+ billion online games and Stockfish 18.
