Irene Kharisma Sukandar
Indonesia's First WGM and IM, International Chess Ambassador
Irene Kharisma Sukandar is Indonesia's first Woman Grandmaster (WGM) and International Master (IM), earning the WGM title in 2008 at just 16 years old and the IM title in 2014. She has been Indonesia's top-ranked female player since 2006 and is a five-time Olympian representing her country on the world stage.
In 2021, Sukandar played a match against Dadang Subur that drew over 1.25 million concurrent viewers online, becoming the most-watched chess stream in history. That moment put Indonesian chess on the global map and introduced Sukandar to audiences far beyond the traditional chess community.
She is a twice Asian Women's Chess Champion and a consistent force in women's international competition. Her official website, Ikhasu.com, serves as a hub for her content, coaching, and chess philosophy. She is also present on Chess.com and Lichess under the username "ikhasu."
In December 2025, Sukandar married American IM and popular streamer Eric Rosen, uniting two of the chess world's most recognized online personalities.
