Digitize handwritten score sheets with neural network OCR

Every over-the-board tournament player has been there: a stack of handwritten score sheets after a long event, and no good way to get those games into a computer without manually re-entering move by move. Chess Scanner solves that directly. Take a photo of your score sheet, and the app's neural network OCR engine converts the handwriting into a clean, digital game in seconds.

The app is available on iOS, Android, and web, with real-time sync across all three. That means you can scan on your phone at the board and open the game for analysis on your laptop later, without any file transfers. The output is standard PGN, the universal chess file format that works with every analysis platform.

Chess Scanner supports English algebraic notation (N, B, R, Q, K) and German notation (S, L, T, D, K), covering the two most widely used systems globally. The scanning itself is free; a subscription unlocks direct export to Chess.com or Lichess and PGN download. Privacy is handled cleanly: score sheet images are deleted from servers immediately after game generation, so nothing is stored long-term.

For tournament players, coaches managing multiple students, or anyone who plays classical chess and wants a post-game record without the friction, Chess Scanner is the kind of utility tool that genuinely earns its place on your phone. The OCR quality is strong enough for real-world handwriting, which is the only test that actually matters.
