En Croissant
Modern open-source chess analysis and database GUI
En Croissant is a modern, open-source chess analysis and database application developed by Francisco Salgueiro. Built with the Tauri framework and React, it brings together the power of traditional desktop chess software with the visual polish of modern web-based interfaces.
The application connects directly to your lichess.org and chess.com accounts, pulling your game history for analysis and review. Multi-engine analysis is built in, and En Croissant supports all UCI engines, so you can run Stockfish, Leela Chess Zero, or any custom engine alongside your games.
One of its standout features is repertoire building with spaced repetition training, helping you actually internalize opening lines rather than just memorize them once. The built-in database tools let you search positions, filter games by result or player, and navigate opening trees visually.
Engine and database installation is handled inside the app, which removes the usual setup friction of desktop chess software. The interface is designed to feel closer to what you get on modern chess websites while still offering the depth you only get from a native application. It is cross-platform and completely free, with source code available on GitHub.
