Silver Knights Chess Academy

Silver Knights Chess Academy (formerly Magnus Chess Academy) is one of the largest chess education organizations in the United States. Based in the Baltimore-Washington metro area, they have taught over 120,000 students and operate more than 350 school-based chess clubs across Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC.

Their programming includes after-school chess classes, summer camps (over 150 week-long camps offered annually), and tournaments for players of all skill levels. Silver Knights also offers an Online Chess Academy serving students across all 50 states, making their structured chess education accessible nationwide. The organization proudly produced 11 scholastic state champions in 2025.

Silver Knights focuses on making chess fun and educational for children, from absolute beginners to competitive tournament players. Their mission combines the intellectual benefits of chess with youth development, using the game as a tool to teach critical thinking, sportsmanship, and problem-solving skills.
