SubconChess

blindfold training

SubconChess is a blindfold vision trainer designed to help chess players strengthen their board visualization skills. The idea is simple: if you can see the board clearly in your mind without looking at it, you calculate better, blunder less, and play more confidently in real games.

The platform offers three core training modes. Board training helps you internalize square colors, coordinates, and piece placement. Blindfold puzzles challenge you to solve tactical positions without seeing all the pieces on screen. And the game library lets you replay short, instructive games to practice following moves mentally.

There is also a daily challenge feature where you can input moves via keyboard notation, which reinforces your ability to think in algebraic notation rather than relying on drag-and-drop visuals. It is a small thing, but it builds the kind of fluency that matters when you are calculating lines in your head during a real game.

SubconChess is free to use and runs entirely in the browser. It is an indie project with a focused scope: no social features, no rating systems, just pure visualization training. If you have ever wanted to get better at blindfold chess or simply improve your mental board vision, this is a clean, no-frills tool built specifically for that.
