Chess Informant

Chess Informant is one of the most iconic brands in chess publishing. Founded in Belgrade in 1966, the company created the Chess Informant series, a periodical collection of the world's best games annotated by the players themselves. The series introduced a universal, language-free annotation system that became the global standard for chess notation symbols.

Beyond the flagship series, Chess Informant publishes the Encyclopedia of Chess Openings (ECO), Encyclopedia of Chess Endings (ECE), and dozens of instructional titles. Their classification system for openings (ECO codes like B33 or E97) is used by every major chess database and platform in the world.
