Sharly Chess
Open Source Arbiter Tool
Sharly Chess is a free, open-source tournament management tool designed specifically for chess arbiters and organizers. Licensed under AGPL-3.0 and actively maintained since 2013, it provides a practical, no-cost solution for running structured chess competitions without relying on internet connectivity during play.
The software runs entirely on the arbiter's local computer, which means there is no dependency on external servers or internet uptime during a tournament. This is a significant advantage for events held in venues with unreliable connectivity. Pairings are FIDE-compliant and can be adjusted on the fly, while live standings update automatically after each round.
Sharly Chess supports multiple screens simultaneously, allowing pairings and results to be projected or displayed on tablets, smartphones, or monitors for players and spectators. Players can also submit their own results digitally, reducing the administrative load on arbiters.
With over 87 released versions and an active community on Discord and GitHub, Sharly Chess is continuously developed and improved. It is particularly popular in French-language chess communities and supports multiple languages.
