Play Magnus

Play Magnus is the official chess training suite from World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen. Launched as a companion to his global brand, the suite gives players of all levels access to structured learning, puzzle challenges, and the chance to go head-to-head with some of the world's best grandmasters.

The suite includes four distinct apps: Magnus Academy for structured lessons and skill-building, Magnus Trainer for focused study sessions, Play Magnus for competitive games against Carlsen and other elite grandmasters like Judit Polgar and Wesley So, and Tactics Frenzy for rapid puzzle-solving with monthly competitions and prizes. There is also Knight Runner, a free puzzle-adventure game that blends chess with casual gameplay.

All apps are free to download on iOS and Android, making it accessible for beginners and intermediate players who want to improve their game under the banner of the greatest chess player of his generation. The Play Magnus Group was later acquired by Chess.com in 2022, though the apps continue operating independently.
