Jan-Krzysztof Duda is a Polish chess grandmaster, born on April 26, 1998, in Wieliczka, Poland. He earned the GM title in 2013 at just 15 years old, making him one of the youngest grandmasters in the world at the time. With a peak rating of 2760, he holds the record for the highest-rated Polish player in history.
Duda's crowning achievement came at the 2021 FIDE World Cup, where he defeated Magnus Carlsen in the semifinals before beating Sergey Karjakin in the finals. This victory cemented his status as one of the most dangerous players in elite chess. He also won the 2018 Polish Chess Championship, the 2014 European Rapid Championship, and continues to compete at the highest levels of classical and rapid chess.
A consistent presence in the world top 25, Duda is known for his aggressive, dynamic playing style and his willingness to take on the strongest opponents.
